Questel has offered to give a 10 day free trial demonstration of ‘Orbit patent database’ to all pharmaceutical industry members enrolled with Pharmexcil.
Taking into consideration the growing requests from some of its members, earlier in April 2012, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Regulatory Centre at Pharmexcil had subscribed for the ‘Orbit Patent database’ to enable the member players to have an idea of patent expiries of leading pharmaceutical brands across the globe.
Orbit patent database helps in identifying patent applications filed, granted, expired, live, legal status, patent mapping etc. Dialog Pro provides information relating to IMS Patent Focus pharma product patent expiry, in force with legal status, process patents, country wise patents etc.
As it is forecasted, that in the coming few years ahead, many leading pharma brands across the globe will go off patent. Taking this into view, Pharmexcil wants the Indian pharma players competing globally to take early advantage of patent expiries and manufacture the generic versions of the leading brands with same world class quality standards to offer them at a much more affordable price than they are available at present. This will not only help improve the Indian export markets across the world but also enable Indian players to tap newer markets.
“As informed earlier, we are facilitating a 10 day free trial demonstration of this facility to all our members and they can avail information regarding patent expiry or any IPR related data of various drugs. The department of Pharmaceuticals, government of India has given their immense support for this 'Patent database' (Orbit) programme,” informed Dr Appaji, DG Pharmexcil.
Apart from existing members, other members from the industry can also utilize the patent databases facility at Pharmexcil offices located at Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad. The non-members need to book a prior slot allotment along with a nominal fee.
In view of availability of the new facility and to create awareness among the pharma players, Questel, provider of Orbit patent database has offered to give a 10 day free trial to Pharmexcil members. Interested members who wish to avail the trial version can contact at .patents@pharmexcil.com
