Prof Bhoop gets 'Pharma QbD Excellence Award' for pioneering work on QbD & FbD

The Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients (CPhI) has bestowed Dr Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, Professor at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, with “Pharma QbD Excellence Award” for his unparalleled contribution in the domain of Quality by Design (QbD)-based systematic work leading to novel and nanostructured “optimized” drug delivery systems of diverse kinds.

The Award was presented on September 25, 2012 during Pharma QbD Conference organized by CPhI at Ahmedabad, wherein Prof. Bhoop was also invited to deliver the Keynote Address. Prof. Bhoop is also currently the Co-ordinator of UGC Centre of Advanced Studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Coordinator of UGC Center for Excellence in Applications of Nanoparticles. The award was jointly presented by Niyoti Vyas, project Manager of CPhI, and Professor Mukesh Gohel, Director, Institute of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad University.

Acclaimed worldwide, Dr Bhoop has made unparalleled contribution in the domain of new paradigm of “Formulation by Design (FbD)”, of which he is considered to be a global pioneer. Since 1998, he has trained hundreds of scientists on QbD & FbD hailing from leading industrial houses. Till date, he has earned over 165 publications, three books, four patents, tech. transfers of two nano-based drug delivery products, and nearly 200 Conference presentations including 21 Best Paper Awards. A widely travelled scientist, he has shared his prowess at several prestigious forums through over 160 keynote, plenary and invited talks delivered in India, US, Canada, Germany, UK, China, and beyond. He is on editorial board of over 30 journals and a reviewer of over 55 peer-reviewed journals of high impact. He has guided/guiding 19 PhD.’s, one post-doctorate and 45 M. Pharm scholars. This award is a sequel to the recent global recognition of his research work by American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), and numerous other awards & accolades already conferred on him.
