ArjoHuntleigh has signed a three-year contract with Charlotte-based Premier Purchasing Partners, LP, the group purchasing unit of the Premier healthcare alliance, for its vascular compression therapy systems. The agreement, effective December 1, 2012, allows Premier members, at their discretion, to take advantage of special pricing and terms pre-negotiated by Premier for ArjoHuntleigh's range of Flowtron vascular compression therapy systems used for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
"We are very excited about this opportunity to provide Premier members with our proven vascular compression therapy solutions," stated Dan Raffensberger, ArjoHuntleigh US Director of Sales. "ArjoHuntleigh is committed to providing high quality vascular compression therapy that helps reduce the significant impact of deep vein thrombosis while increasing efficiencies and cost savings."
Deep vein thrombosis, a blood clot in the deep veins, affects approximately two million Americans annually and may travel to the lungs causing a potentially fatal pulmonary embolism, the most common preventable cause of hospital death. Many of these deaths are highly preventable through the use of clinically proven mechanical thromboprophylaxis methods, such as the Flowtron vascular compression therapy systems, which improve patient outcomes by reducing the incidence of DVT formation in patients at risk.
Premier is a performance improvement alliance of more than 2,700 US hospitals and 90,000 other healthcare sites using the power of collaboration to lead the transformation to high-quality, cost-effective care. Owned by hospitals, health systems and other providers, Premier maintains the nation's most comprehensive repository of clinical, financial and outcomes information and operates a leading healthcare purchasing network. A world leader in helping deliver measurable improvements in care, Premier has worked with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the United Kingdom's National Health Service North West to improve hospital performance.
