Kaushik Desai, director, Drug Information Association (DIA), India and immediate past chairman, Industrial Pharmacy Division of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) has been elected to the committee of Industrial Pharmacy Section, FIP as associate executive committee member (Associate ExCo) for the year 2013. The announcement was made at the recent FIP 2012 Centennial Conference held at Amsterdam.
As the associate executive committee member, Desai will be taking up responsibility in assisting regulatory affairs activities and identifying the program contents for the development of the industrial pharmacy profession. There is a meeting of ExCo members this month to discuss the way forward.
The new Executive Committee members are Linda Hakes(President), Ulf Janzon (Secretary), Erik Naeser (Treasurer), Michael Anisfeld (Vice President), Alan Chalmers (Regulatory), Sini Eskola (Media & Communications), Igor de Castro (Science and Technology), Sola Solarin (Healthcare Policy).
Other Associate Executive Committee members are Ibrahim El Bagory Luther Gwaza, Inta Saprovska, Andrei Meshkovski, Lauro Moretto, Didier Mouliom, Mathew Cherian, Avanthi Govender Bester, Aayush Agarwal and Kaushik Desai.
The next FIP Congress will be held between August 31 and September 5, 2013 at Dublin, Ireland. The Industrial Pharmacy Sessions (IPS) are planned on the topics like ‘Data is King (Adherence and patient outcomes), development to marketing, biosimilars, industrial insights which is an introduction to the pharmaceutical industry and webinars to be offered to members.
