Divi's net profit surges by 11% in Q2

Divi's Laboratories has registered satisfactory performance during the second quarter ended September 2012 and its net profit moved up 11.2 per cent to Rs.117.97 crore from Rs.106.05 crore in the similar period of last year. The net sales improved significantly by 33.6 per cent to Rs.472.60 crore from Rs.353.67 crore. The company's EBDITA reached at Rs.173.46 crore as against Rs.149.12 crore, a growth of 16.3 per cent.

During the quarter, other expenses have significantly increased due to the purchase of power from the grid at higher prices due to power shortage in Andhra Pradesh and increase in manufacturing expenses. There has a forex loss of Rs.21 crore which has been included in other expenses for the quarter.

For the first half ended, its net sales improved by 31.6 per cent to Rs.941.01 crore from Rs.714.95 crore in the same period of last year. Its net profit also jumped by 36.8 per cent to Rs.285.35 crore from Rs.108.64 crore. The company has capitalized fixed assets aggregating to Rs.191 crore during the current half year, of which fixed assets amounting to Rs.124 crore have been capitalized at the DSN SEZ unit.
