IAIA selects office bearers, Waters' president Venugopalan leads the pack

Indian Analytical Instruments Association (IAIA) has now announced its newly elected executive committee members. The exclusive professional body formed in 1996 has 78 members of which 59 are corporate life members and 19 individual life members. These professionals represent the analytical companies covering Lab India, Perkin Elmer, Cryogen, Ind Tech, Spinco, Dionex, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waters, Ranbaxy, and Fine Chemicals.

This year KV Venugopalan, president, Waters India Pvt. Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Waters Corporation USA, has been unanimously elected president of IAIA. An electronics engineer with an MBA degree in marketing, Venugopalan has been associated with Waters India from 1983 and has presided over the company since 1997. Under his leadership, in the last 25 years, Waters business in India grew significantly and is now one of the largest analytical organisations in Indian analytical market.

IAIA has appointed both C Ravindranath, managing director, Spinco and Ashes Ganguly, founder-director, Cryogen Instruments India Pvt Ltd as its vice presidents.

Gautam Rajan, managing director, Marsap Services Pvt. Ltd is chosen as the Secretary, IAIA. S Raju, director, Ace Instruments & Services Private Limited, Thane is selected as the Jt. Secretary, IAIA.

Vipul Chhatbar, managing director, Medispec India Ltd, & BioTek Instruments (I) Pvt. Ltd is the Treasurer, IAIA and Chandrahas Shetty, CEO, Skytech Systems India Pvt. Ltd is the IAIA joint treasurer.

The objective of the IAIA has been to develop the analytical instruments industry. It  has successfully organised exhibitions and conferences from 1996 to 2000 under the banner 'Anacon' at Mumbai. The primary objective of the Association has been to create and share knowledge leading to better relationships in the industry. It is also a premier body working towards policy making and planning thus integrating the entire analytical fraternity.
