Maharashtra FDA finds 18 not-of-standard quality drugs in October

The Maharashtra Food and Drugs Admnistration (FDA) has found 18 drugs which are of not-of-standard quality in the month of October. During its routine random sample testing in October, it was found that manufacturers from Himachal Pradesh accounted for major share with nine not-of-standard drugs of the total 18 drugs. Five drugs were from from Uttaranchal and two each from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

The various drug companies manufacturing these not-of-standard quality drugs includes ASA Biotech for MISCEF-CV, Cefixime and clavulanate potassium tablets, Cachet Pharmaceuticals for Digesta novo syrup (Digestive Enzyme), Ozone Pharmaceuticals for Clavcare dry syrup from Himachal Pradesh, Colinz Laboratories for Pasam Drops, Leben Laboratories for Cefwar dry syrup from Maharashtra, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals for Acemiz-S, paracetamol, serratiopeptidase and aceclofen, Ultratech India for 18 again vaginal tightening & rejuvenation gel from Uttaranchal.

According to Mahesh Zhagade, commissioner of Maharashtra FDA, these drugs were tested randomly during a surprise inspection carried out by the FDA inspectors. It is vital to ensure that products are of good quality.

The other companies allegedly manufacturing these not-of standard quality drugs includes: CosmasPharmacals for Kolapep tablets, DM Pharma for pantotech-D, pantoprazole and domperidone tablets, Gopish Pharma for Lopravis, Loperamide HCl tablets IP, Radico Remedies for Anycoff (Ambroxol, dextromethorpen, Phenylephrine, CHl,), Saitech Medicare for Moxtals dry syrup, Amox. and POT. CLAV. ORAL. SUS., Terrace Pharmaceuticals for Excel capsules from Himachal Pradesh, Albet David Ltd. for Dextrose Injection IP, Francis Biotech for DPS Strong, diclofenac, paracetamol and serratiopeptid from Uttar Pradesh, Creative Healthcare for Reboot, pepsin and fungal diastase drops, Taurus Parentrals for SVCID-20 capsules from Uttaranchal.

FDA has now issued note of caution to all hospitals, pharmacy trade and the public to refrain from prescribing, stocking and taking these drugs.
