Exactech signs U.S. and Canada distribution agreement for orthopaedic devices

Exactech Inc has signed a letter agreement to enter into a distribution agreement with Waldemar Link GmbH & Co. of Hamburg, Germany and Link America Inc d/b/a Link Orthopaedics. Under the distribution agreement, Exactech will distribute the Link hip, knee and surgical instruments in the U.S. and Canada. Exactech will also distribute Link's S.T.A.R. ankle under Link's ongoing Investigational Device Exemption "IDE". The definitive distribution agreement is anticipated to be signed by February 28, 2002, will have a two-year initial term and will be effective March 1, 2002 with options for renewal. Exactech CEO Dr. Bill Petty said, "Link Orthopaedics offers a range of orthopaedic devices for joint replacement and reconstruction that are well respected in the industry. These include the MP Hip Stem and the Endo Model Rotational Hinge Knee system that are complementary with our knee and hip replacement lines. Link's reconstructive joint products have a strong reputation for bone and joint restoration after removal of bone tumors. These additions further broaden the range of orthopaedic products that our representatives can offer to surgeons and hospitals."
