Maharashtra FDA seizes 33 not-of standard drugs in Jan, 20 in December

With the recent routine random inspection carried out by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized 33 not-of standard drugs in month of January. The umber of sub-standard drugs found in January is more than the month of December with only 20 not-of-standard drugs.

The sample testing carried out by the agency at their drug testing laboratory in Mumbai. These samples were tested and declared as sub-standard and advised to stop their use, sale and distribution as they are unfit for prescription by the medical practitioners.

Manufacturers from the tax-free state of Himachal Pradesh (HP) has accounted for major share in January with 13 not-of-standard drugs and seven in December.

The well-known drug manufacturers who has found distributing these sub-standard drugs in January includes: Captab Biotech, HP for Diavox-250 tablets, UltraTech Pharmaceutical, HP for Omox-Clv (LB) dry syrup, Scoot-Edil Pharmacia, HP for Fotaz-O dry syrup, Zydus Animal Health, Gujarat for Belamyl Veterinary B-complex liver extract with vitamin B-12 injection, Coax Bioremedies, Harayana for multi-vitamin infusion, Hab Pharmaceuticals & Research Limited, Uttarakhand for Cid-O-Rab-D tablets, Ciron Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, Maharashtra for iron dextran injection, Schon Pharmaceuticals, Madhya Pradesh for Kapril-H (Ramipril and hydrochlorothiazide) tablets, Numech Healthcare, MP for Pesolen-10 tablets.

In December the list of manufacturers includes: Packsules, MP for Chloramphenicol eye ointment, Zest Pharma, MP for Azest-500 tablets, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Pune for Resochin tablets, Shervotec Pharmaceuticals, HP for Cefixime oral dry syrup, Hab Pharmaceuticals & Research Limited, Uttarakhand for multi-9 multi-vitamin tablets, Avenue Remedies, HP for Parazym (digestive enzymes), Curetech Formulation, HP for Pantafol tablets and Sri Vishnuram Company, Tamil Nadu for super fine absorbent gauze.
