Xanser Corporation has secured a five-year agreement with IDX Systems Corporation. IDX will market an integrated offering of the Xtria Encompass solution set to its customer base. IDX is a leading provider of systems and technology for healthcare with an installed client base in excess of 3,200 organizations and 134,000 users. Compliance with the federal regulations included in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a significant challenge to the IDX family of users and to healthcare as a whole. According to the Gartner Group, the amount that a healthcare organization will spend to achieve HIPAA compliance will average $3.1 million. Xtria Encompass is being offered to IDX customers to allow them to more efficiently and economically meet these requirements. "Xtria Encompass is an aggressive and immediate solution to a widespread industry compliance issue, and it is far more than that. It is a unique solution that integrates and delivers secure data across a healthcare system or throughout a hospital, and is being adopted as a fundamental part of our customers' information technology systems," said John R. Barnes, chairman, president and CEO of Xanser Corporation. "This agreement with IDX significantly expands our current market opportunities and will drive our continuing growth in information technology solutions for healthcare." The Xtria Encompass solution set helps healthcare providers and physician groups achieve compliance with patient privacy and data security standards mandated by HIPAA. Xtria Encompass is a toolkit -- with integrated assessment, training and security components -- that helps healthcare providers address current compliance issues and maintain compliance in the future. Because Xtria's solution delivers fundamental knowledge across a healthcare enterprise, Xtria Encompass becomes an essential part of a healthcare provider's ongoing operating systems. Originally introduced as X-HIPAA in February of this year, the solution set's broader scope of capabilities is now reflected in its name, Xtria Encompass.
