Rexam Healthcare, a leading rigid plastic packaging provider of drug delivery systems and medical devices for the pharmaceutical, medical and biotechnology industries has announced an investment plan of Euro 1 million as part of its expansion. The new production line will be implemented with one assembly line and several injection moulding machines, to increase production capacity.
The facility at Neuenburg in Germany specialises in a large range of product specifications, from primary packaging such as tubes, tablet dispensers, dosing systems for nasal sprays and eye drops to components for insulin pens and diagnostic instruments for medical applications. A range of multi-component devices will be manufactured from this location.
The production area covers 21,000 square metres and houses six production halls, 8,000 square metres of clean rooms conforming to GMP standards, more than 100 injection machines, about 40 assembly lines and printing machines for plastic parts. Further, the facility employs over 490 people and is a melting pot of cultures with staff from 19 different nations working together.
Early this year, Rexam successfully earned DIN ISO 50001 certification, which will only become mandatory for large companies in 2015. The certification enables the company to adhere to standards that would help generate energy saving to the tune of 25 per cent, stated the company release.

Now specific to this new expansion, Rexam has a recruitment plan is already in place, offering more than 50 direct and indirect employment positions in the coming months.
The company stated all the new openings were driven by cutting edge projects where avenues for machine operators, engineers, team leaders, injection moulding specialists, quality engineers, quality inspectors, a quality team leader, a production area manager and a machine setter are made available.
