Rangalakshmi Netralaya expands facility and upgrades with advanced technology in Yelahanka

Rangalakshmi Netralaya, a super speciality laser eye care centre in Yelahanka New Town, Bengaluru has gone in for expansion. The 11-year old ophthalmic major has now invested in a bigger facility and has upgraded to add the latest technology & equipment in eye care.

The new centre with spacious outpatients wing has comfortable seating; state-of-the-art operation theatre with latest assisted micro incision cataract surgery`(MICS) & vitrectomy system; spectral domain OCT scan for retinal, corneal and glaucoma scan; advanced laser imaging system for treatment of diabetic retinopathy; wide range of optical and contact lenses; and broader eye care services.

Yelahanka  MLA SR Vishwanath,  inaugurated the expanded facility of the eye care centre here. Also present were  Yelahanka New Town Corporator Muniraj and Attur Layout Corporator Dr Geetha Shashikumar.

Commenting on the expanded unit, Dr G Venkatasubramaniam, medical director & vitreo-retinal surgeon, Rangalakshmii Netralaya, said, “We are now in a position to serve the locality better. With this expanded unit, we can carry out several critical surgeries using the latest technology. This unit will go a long way in addressing the complex health problems of visually impaired people.”

To coincide with the World Sight Day 2013, Rangalakshmii Netralaya will conduct free screening of patients for glaucoma and diabetic eye diseases. India is said to be home to the largest number of people suffering from diabetes, which can lead to various health complications, including long-term eye ailments. Therefore, it is imperative for people to undergo screening for glaucoma and diabetes.

Rangalakshmii Netralaya has been carrying out community service programmes targeting the urban and rural poor. Through the Manava Seva Kendra, Dr Venkatasubramaniam has been conducting free eye screening camps for glaucoma, cataract and diabetic ailments in villages near Yelahanka, Chikballapura and Tumkur in Karnataka and Hindupur and Madanapalli in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

Rangalakshmii Netralaya since its inception in May 2002 as a small clinic has grown under his leadership into a leading super speciality eye care centre in north Bengaluru. It offers cataract micro surgeries including modern phaco emulsification, multifocal IOL, and refractive IOL surgery, glaucoma services and field analyzer, vitreo retinal services including all major surgeries and latest luminies imported lasers, squint and oculoplastics, cornea services, including lamellar kerotoplasty, lasik and eye robics. The centre is also a part of Manava Seva Kendra Trust and has conducted free surgeries in and around Bengaluru, Kanakapura, Doddaballapur and Tumkur districts.
