Dr Agarwal’s Retina Foundation launched in Hyderabad

Dr Agarwal’s Retina Foundation a super speciality eye care centre to treat retinal diseases was launched in Hyderabad.

The retina eye care centre was inaugurated by Dr J Geeta Reddy, Minister for Major Industries government of Andhra Pradesh in Ameerpet. “It is very much important for the healthcare fraternity to constantly improve the quality of life by inventing new surgical techniques and new treatment procedures in the field of ophthalmology,” said Dr Reddy.

The main objective of the retina foundation is to give advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities of the highest quality in the state.

Retina is the light sensitive inner layer of the eye where the images are formed and are later relayed to brain. The changing life style and the secondary complications of life style disease like-diabetes and hypertension are posing a bigger threat to vision by affecting the retina in different manner. In coming years, country will witness not only raise in population of diabetic, hypertensive patients but also number of patients at a threshold of vision loss.

Keeping the changing trend of eye diseases in view, Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital has initiated and dedicated this new eye care centre for retina patients.

The retina care centre is well equipped and has installed all the state-of-the-art facilities to treat retinal diseases like diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, trauma in retina, vitreous haemorrhage, cataract complications (Lens/IOL Drop), intraocular foreign body removal, congenital RPE disorder, endophathalmitis etc. The hi-tech diagnostic equipments involve scanning and imaging equipments that not only support the retina surgeon in assessing the exact situation of retina but also supports in deciding the appropriate treatment plan.

The Centre has appointed dedicated team of Vitreo-Retinal consultants and qualified paramedical staff to provide quality retina care services with compassion. Prof Amar Agarwal, chairman and managing director of Dr Agarwal’s Group of Eye hospitals said, “We have invested around Rs. 6 crores for this super speciality care centre. We are firmly committed to provide modern diagnostic and treatment of the highest quality.”

Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital was started in the year 1957 and has spent 56 long years providing quality eye care services in the country. Today the hospital has 14 branches in Chennai Tamil Nadu and has established centres in other states like Rajasthan, Bangalore and Andhra Pradesh. The hospital group has also established its bases in other countries.
