SAP Labs India is planning to step up its market presence with TracoHealth a cloud-based solution on SAP HANA, an ‘in-memory’ database which has  both web and mobile interface. It is meant to be used by the mobile health teams which go to various schools and conduct health camp and record health details including inoculation and vaccination information of every student. The company has already initiated a pilot project in February 2013 when  National Rural Health Mission issued the guidelines for Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram. The company has commenced discussions with several state governments.

TracOHealth leverages the power of Aadhaar (UID) to uniquely identify every beneficiary. This helps in maintaining all the health related information for a lifetime. “This has not only given us a head start over our potential competition but TracOHealth is the only running solution with proven capabilities to address challenges in these areas,” Ganapathy Subramanian, vice president, Design New Applications, SAP Labs India told Pharmabiz.

The company is now in discussions  with many state governments in the country. In North India, it is currently undertaken a pilot project. “Since, it is a new solution, we are approaching governments which are towards the higher side of technology adoption and could be early adopters. We are following a multi-phased approach for taking the solution to the potential customers. Now this TracOHealth has been designed keeping in mind the geographical and terrain challenges in the country and can work in the remotest corners of India. This application supports the collection of health data from remote areas, using basic Android tablets and GPRS connectivity,” he added.

Moreover TracOHealth is aimed at paving way for an inclusive approach to better collaborative outcomes in the area of child health. TracOHealth helps in maintaining all health related information for a lifetime of every child across India to ensure effective programme delivery and increased awareness about the available health services to rural children who depend on NRHM for their well-being. NRHM will be able to optimize utilization of limited resources and ensure delivery of prompt and quality healthcare in the remotest regions of the country. Digitized and validated records of the students enrolled in schools will be an automatic program outcome besides reporting and monitoring of concerns and issues at the grass-root level. TracOHealth also has the potential to grow into a full-fledged Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for the citizens of any state, he stated.

Healthcare is one of the oldest sectors that SAP has been catering to. There is a combination of private and public collaborations. Specific to the private sector, its emphasis has been on managing, analysing costs, platform; primarily- cost of labour to allocate right skills to right patient that comes under human capital resources. The portfolio of solutions cover ‘in-memory’ real time solution like Collaborative E-Care Management, Analytics Solutions for Healthcare, Quality Management for Healthcare and Electronic Medical Record Mobile App, he said.

For the future, SAP Labs India is developing a  consumer app to help individuals keep track of  health vitals to improve their well-being. Another app will help develop close coordination between the doctors and patients.
