Herbal Expo & Buyer Seller meet on medicinal plants to start on Dec 12 at Thrissur

To tap tremendous opportunities for cultivators of medicinal plants, the Kerala Medicinal Plants Board in association with ayurvedic fraternity in Kerala is organising a herbal expo- cum buyer-seller meet at Thrissur from December 12-16.

The trade show titled, ‘Oushadha Keralam 2013’, organised to explore the market for medicinal plants and herbal products, and hoped to serve as a platform for direct interaction between cultivators and industry, said Dr D Ramanathan, organising committee secretary of the event.

More than 150 stalls of medicinal plants and herbal products, seminars and brainstorming sessions on cultivation of herbs and plants, ethnic and modern medical camps and cultural program are part of the five days show.

Governor of Kerala, Nikhil Kumar, will inaugurate the event at 4 pm on Thursday, December 12. On the second day the Minister for SC-ST, Kerala,  PK Jayalakshmi will inaugurate the seminar on ‘Public Health and Frontiers of Medicinal Plants’ at 10 am.

On the third day, the union minister of state for Health & Family Welfare, Santhosh Chowdhari will inaugurate the buyer-seller meet at 10 am. At 6 pm on the same day, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandi will visit the pavilion.

On the 15th, the concluding session of buyer-seller meet will be attended by state ministers Adoor Prakash and KP Mohanan.

At 4 pm on 16th, Minister CN Balakrishnan will inaugurate the closing ceremony of the programme. Niranjan Sanyal, Ayush secretary will attend the meeting.
