Women In Government (WIG) Foundation Inc., a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization, has launched its Pulmonary Hypertension Legislative Toolkit which is designed to provide information and resources regarding Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) for women state legislators.
Each year, 10 to 15 million people are diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, 200,000 are hospitalized, and more than 15,000 die of the disease.
"Pulmonary Hypertension is a serious disease, but with increased awareness, early detection, and proper treatment we can decrease hospitalization time, and increase survival rates," said Marjorie Maginn, WIG president and executive director. "Women In Government encourages state legislators to familiarize themselves with this disease so that they can protect their constituents and ensure a healthier community."
Inside the Pulmonary Hypertension Legislative Toolkit, viewers will find information regarding the following: facts and statistics; frequently asked questions; a glossary of terms related to PH; sample legislation; awareness and action items; a sample Op/Ed; a sample constituent letter; a sample colleague letter; a PowerPoint with PH information; and a list of resources and partners.
