Zoetis, a leading animal health company, launched Vetvance - a free web-based learning resource to arm veterinary students and recent graduates with indispensable tools and resources to support the future advancement of their careers. Vetvance provides content on topics that may not be typically covered in a veterinary student’s core curriculum to help prepare students to handle the non-clinical aspects of the veterinary profession.
To explore the resources available on Vetvance, veterinary students and recent graduates can visit http://www.Vetvance.com.
At launch, Vetvance will host 100 short multi-media modules, where industry experts discuss topics to inform emerging veterinary professionals in three critical areas: Professional Development: Modules cover resume-writing skills, successful interviewing techniques and navigating the job search, to name a few; Business Skills: These sections will focus on the elements involved in running a successful veterinary business; Financial Literacy: Modules in this area highlight topics such as financial basics, budgeting and student loan repayment.
“We know that veterinary students and graduates are equipped with the medical knowledge and know-how to provide the best care possible for animals – Vetvance is a platform dedicated to providing crucial information for their long term success and thus help sustain a strong profession,” said Vanessa Mariani, Director Academic & Professional Affairs, Zoetis US. “It’s our hope that Vetvance will serve as a go-to resource for emerging veterinarians to access information on these topics, connect with peers and ultimately be better prepared when launching their veterinary careers.”
In addition to the educational resources available on Vetvance, emerging veterinarians who subscribe to the website will gain access to a job search engine hosted in collaboration with American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), connect with other students and recent graduates to share experiences, get real world advice from veterinary professionals and find mentors. By registering for Vetvance, eligible students also receive 15 per cent off a subscription to the Zuku Review TM NAVLE prep.
“Every year, approximately 2,800 veterinary students will graduate and enter the job market,” said Mariani. “These students are the future of the veterinary profession, and it is important to us at Zoetis that we invest in programs and resources to help them excel.”
The Vetvance online resource is a part of Zoetis’ Commitment to Veterinarians platform—which offers support through training and education, research and development, investing in the future of the veterinary profession, and philanthropy. The website complements a number of other Zoetis programs supporting the veterinary profession, including millions invested in universities, industry education and training, scholarships, and allied organizations each year.
Vetvance has brought together contributors from across the country to impart years of practical experience to help new veterinarians establish their careers. Their various areas of expertise as well as diverse backgrounds help us to bring emerging veterinary professionals the information they need to handle the non-clinical aspects of their business.
