Pharmexcil plans India Pavilion at 'Korea Pharm' in South Korea

Pharmexcil is planning to organize an India Pavilion at ‘Korea Pharm’ which is scheduled to be held in South Korea from 10-13th June 2014. The event is expected to be held at Korea International Exhibition Centre (Kintex) in Goyang.

‘Korea Pharm’ is the 4th Korean international pharmaceutical ingredients exhibition, which is exclusively focussed on active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), chemicals, laboratory and packaging materials.

“This is the second time we are participating in the Korea Pharm event. As South Korea is an important country in Asia, the council is planning to organise India Pavilion, where in members from the Indian pharmaceutical industry are invited to exhibit their products and services and can utilize this opportunity to explore and expand their business interests in the Korean markets,” opined Raghuveer Kini, executive director, Pharmexcil.

Last year in 2013, Korea Pharm had 795 pharmaceutical companies participating in the exhibition. Around 37897 visitors visited 2300 booths at the exhibition. This year too, Korea Pharm is expected to give a big platform for the world pharma sector.

South Korea and the surrounding region are considered as very important markets for India as these markets having huge growth potentials for exporting generic medicines in South East Asian region. Moreover as India entered into a CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) agreement with South Korea in 2010 there is a huge scope for the country to enhance API business with Korea.

As it is a good opportunity for the Indian pharma sector to exhibit its capabilities in the generic medicine sector, the Pharmaceutical export promotion council is calling upon the industry members and pharma product exporters to take part in the event and grab the huge business opportunities in the Korean Peninsula region. Under the Marketing Development Assistance programme, the Ministry of commerce government of India is also giving financial assistance up to Rs.1.5 lakhs to encourage the Indian pharma companies and exporters’ whose export turnover is less than Rs.30 crore.

Members interested to take part in the Korea Pharma exhibition should register with the council on or before April 15, 2014.
