The Andhra Pradesh Pharmacy Council (APPC) has commenced its long awaited website currently providing only registration and pharmacy acts related information.

The Council is planning to go full throttle online by offering online registrations and renewals in the next three months. “We have just started the APPC website and at present it’s only static and informative. We are planning to make it dynamic by updating the entire database of the registered pharma professionals in the state. At present we have procured all required servers and computers, but we are not having adequate staff to do the data entry work. Hopefully we will go fully online in the next 2-3 months, where we will not only offer online renewals and registrations but we are also planning to make the verification process much simpler by linking all the universities and colleges to our website,” said Pola Nagaraju, Registrar of APPC.

Earlier the Andhra Pradesh Pharmacy Council had faced lot of problems as there was no permanent registrar for the council. At present there is no elected governing body, as the earlier president of the Council was declared unelected by the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2012 due to internal controversies between two groups. Since then, the Council is working under the additional charge of Director General of Andhra Pradesh Drug Controller.

Now that, P Nagaraju has taken charge as APPC Registrar since a year ago on 23 May 2013, all the registration works are completed up to date with no pending files. “Every month we are registering and renewing about 2000 candidates. We are seeing that there is no delay what so ever in dispatching the fresh registrations. We have requested all the universities and colleges to submit the data of all the passed out pharmacy graduates in a CD to the council every years so that it makes our work easy to verify and make the registrations speedier without any delay,” said the registrar.

Overall with the launch of the new website, now the pharmacy graduates are relieved as they need not come to the office from long distance districts just for the sake of obtaining application form. Earlier pharmacy graduates used to stand in long queues for just collecting the forms and take tokens for their turn. Now the students can download the renewal and registration application forms at their own place from the website www.appharmacycouncil.gov.in and get enroll themselves with much ease.
