Envirotainer, the world-leader in secure cold chain logistics solutions, primarily within the life science, healthcare and biotech industries, has received full approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the most sought after active heating and cooling container on the market; the RKN e1. The approval will enable US based airlines, and any other airline regulated by the FAA, to carry the RKNe1 container onboard their aircraft.
“Envirotainer is the primary market leader in the segment of temperature-controlled containers and solutions within the active cold chain. We have successfully acquired the necessary certifications from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and other country specific regulatory bodies. With this FAA approval, the availability of the RKN e1 container will be further enhanced. This marks an important step in Envirotainer’s strive to offer all potential customers a heating and cooling container in the temperature controlled supply chain, as well as the flexibility to chose their preferred carrier”, comments Simon Angeldorff, CEO of Envirotainer.
Prior to RKN e1 containers being released into the market as FAA approved, mandatory placards will be mounted on the container. Envirotainer has also prepared and taken the necessary actions to enable a timely progress of the technical acceptance processes for our FAA regulated airline partners. Our current estimate is that all major approvals and processes should be in place within a two to six month period with the RKN e1 container expected to be made available on the market within the same timeframe.
In order to ensure availability for our partners following this FAA approval we are investing heavily in our fleet expansion. Our brand new, state of the art R&D and production facility outside Stockholm, Sweden, is enabling us to further support this expansion with the production of RKN e1 containers currently running at a doubled speed in comparison to that of previous years.
