Nitin Jaywant joins Alembic's API division as President

Alembic Limited has appointed Nitin Jaywant as the President of its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) division on July 8, 2002. Jaywant has a rich experience of 32 years in the pharma industry and prior to this was President of the API business at Lupin Labs. Jaywant's role at Alembic will be critical to the aggressive growth plans that the company has in the domestic and overseas markets. Jaywant has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a master's degree in management studies. He has worked with distinguished companies such as Boots Pharmaceuticals, ICI, Parke Davis and Lupin Labs. He has handled overseas assignments as well for Lupin and Oman Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals. Alembic expects its API business to show accelerated growth and be a significant contributor to the overall growth of the company. Last year Alembic's API business clocked in at Rs. 165 crore and is expected to touch Rs. 200 crore this year. Roxithromycin has received the Certificate of Suitability (COS) for marketing in Europe and approval for two more products is awaited.
