Global Pharma QbD Award for Professor Bhoop

Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, has recently been bestowed with “Stat-Ease QbD Performance Award 2014” on the basis of his outstanding contribution and extensive research work on novel and nanostructured drug delivery systems using Quality by Design (QbD).

Conferment of this prestigious award was conveyed to him  recently through a communique by  Pat Whitcomb, Founder President, Stat-Ease Inc., Minneapolis, USA.  

Besides a citation, the award carries a grant of "Premier Academic Status" to Prof Bhoop and his research group at Panjab University, Chandigarh, amounting to the complimentary provision of a perpetual licence of the Design Expert 9.0 software, five single-user annual licences, and annual 10-seat network licence for the purpose of academic research by his group, all worth the market price of US$ 7095.  This status has been conferred by Stat-Ease earlier only once to the founder’s alma mater, the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA.

Considered to be a global front runner and national pioneer in the development of novel and nanostructured drug delivery using Formulation by Design (FbD), i.e., a QbD-based paradigm, Prof Bhoop has to his credit till date more than 215 publications, 10 books, 4 patents and technology transfers of two marketed nano-based drug delivery products for serving the ailing patients. He has duly trained several hundreds of industrial scientists on QbD under his direct guidance through dozens of onsite training seminars & workshops (including Ranbaxy, Cadila, Mylan, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s, Zydus-Cadila, Sanofi-Aventis, Ajanta, Alkem, Ipca, Bharat Serums, Unichem, Synchron, Panacea Biotec, Vyome Biosciences, and many more) - an unparalleled feat to the credit of any academic scientist.

Some of the publications authored by him are the most sought-after repertoire of QbD-based knowledge and know-how across the globe.

This award is a sequel to numerous other National & Global QbD awards & accolades already conferred on him like,

Pharma QbD Excellence Award 2012, by Convention of Pharmaceutical Ingredients (CPhI), the most prestigious Pharma event management organisation across the globe with presence in over 150 countries.
QbD Product Performance Award 2012, by American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), USA, the biggest apex organistion of pharmaceutical scientists in the world.
AAPS QbD Product Performance Award 2013, by American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), USA.
Outstanding QbD Scientist Award 2014, by Select Biosciences, UK, one of the most prestigious Pharma and Biotect event management organisations across the globe.

Besides, Professor Bhoop is also the Coordinator, UGC Centre of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Pharma Sciences, and Founder Coordinator of UGC Centre of Excellence in Nano Applications (Biomedical Sciences) at Punjab University. He has also served as the Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, from 2012-2014, and as Dean, Alumni Relations, Punjab University, from 2007-2011. On the basis of his exemplary accomplishments, in Education, Society, Science and Pharma Profession, Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India has lately nominated Prof Bhoop to the Punjab University Senate as the Fellow of Punjab University. Since December 2013, he has also been elected unopposed to the Syndicate, highest temporal body of the university.
