Divi's Labs net surges by 12.1 % in Q2

Divi's Laboratories has registered relatively lower growth of 12.1 per cent in net profit during the second quarter ended September 2014 to Rs. 229.64 crore from Rs. 204.93 crore in the same period of last year due to lower other income. Its other income declined to Rs. 15.54 crore from Rs. 36.54 crore. Its net sales went up sharply by 46.6 per cent to Rs. 829.77 crore from Rs. 565.88 crore. EPS worked out to Rs. 17.30 as against Rs. 15.44 in the last period.

For the first half ended September 2014, the net sales increased by 35.9 per cent to Rs. 1,470 crore from Rs. 1,082 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Its net profit increased by only 4.7 per cent to Rs. 397.57 crore from Rs. 379.64 crore. The company has capitalized fixed assets aggregating to Rs. 50 crore during the current half-year.

Divi's operations were affected for a brief period during October 2014 on account of Hudhud cyclone at Visakhapatnam. Loss to assets amounted to about Rs. 10 crore which is covered under the company's insurance policies.
