The CPhI Worldwide and co-located events, which is being held at Paris Nord Villepinte, France, from October 7 to 9 provide a unique opportunity to get a detailed understanding of the latest industry developments and market news via a number of seminars and briefings.

A unique event for the global pharma community, CPhI brings together pharmaceutical ingredients suppliers and buyers providing unequalled business and networking opportunities. With dedicated zones to help navigate the event and an expanding range of co-located events, CPhI is the perfect meeting place for the entire pharma industry. In terms of networking opportunities, it’s the most important event on the pharma calendar.

The event will cover 20 specialist sectors of the pharma industry, including Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), excipients, finished formulations, contract services, packaging, machinery and more.

Since its inception in 1990, CPhI Worldwide has striven to meet the needs of exhibitors and attendees, in part using feedback and suggestions to prepare for each year’s event.

As a result, 92 per cent of CPhI Worldwide visitors were satisfied with their overall show experience in 2013.

Since 2010, CPhI Worldwide has seen almost 20 per cent growth in attendance. CPhI Worldwide is a must attend pharmaceutical event of the year, offering a growing array of programmes and conferences alongside the world’s leading pharma supply chain exhibition.

The co-located events
Innopack was introduced to CPhI Worldwide in 2011 as a result of positive customer feedback to the 2010 ICSE Packaging Zone and post-show surveys that indicated a large amount of attendees with interest in an event dedicated to innovative packaging, supplies and resources. InnoPack brings together buyers and specifiers from the packaging and pharmaceutical industries, creating business opportunities through a dedicated worldwide forum.

ICSE connects the pharmaceutical community with outsourcing solution providers, offering a forum for business development, networking and education. With a focus on innovation and new developments, each ICSE event is designed to fulfil its role as the premier meeting place for any business or individual within the contract service sector.

P-MEC Europe delivers innovative pharmaceutical machinery, equipment and technology to a worldwide forum of decision -makers through face to face networking and education. While

P-MEC is the best place to find global pharma tech and machinery providers, LABWorld gives access to a wide range of laboratory equipment.

CPhI Worldwide, organised each year by the UBM Group, takes place in October, rotating between three cities of Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris. Each of these wonderful locations are able accommodate the growing exhibition and co-located events.

Growing generic drugs role

According to a Business Monitor International report published earlier this year, pharmaceutical spending saw a 2.4 per cent decrease from 2013 to 2014, while healthcare spending realized a 2.4 per cent increase in the same period. Spending across all sectors is projected to decrease in the coming years as the French government attempts to meet the EU deficit reduction target of 3.0 per cent of GDP by 2015. In 2015 health expenditure growth is expected to be capped at 2.1 per cent, with further reductions to two per cent and 1.9 per cent in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

As the government looks to decrease its healthcare and pharmaceutical expenses, generic drugs will come to play an even larger role in the French market.

With the pressure to meet the EU deficit reduction target of three per cent of GDP by 2015, the French government will be looking to reduce healthcare and pharmaceutical expenditures through the use of generics over the next several years. France, along with other EU countries, will turn to strong generic markets, such as India, to fill this need. Hence CPhI Worldwide holds special significance to India this year.

Brand India Pharma campaign
Within the CPhI exhibition hall, visitors will be able to find the India/Pharmexcil pavilion.

More than 200 Indian pharmaceutical companies will be participating in CPhI Worldwide this year as part of the Brand India Pharma initiative. This include international heavyweights like Piramal, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s and Lupin and Dishman amongst others.

Senior officials from the Department of Commerce, along with representatives from India’s fast-growing pharmaceutical industry with India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) , would be leading the Brand India Pharma campaign at CPhI Worldwide.

The Brand India Pharma initiative is designed to support and help our home-grown industry play a larger part on the world stage,” commented Sudhanshu Pandey, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India.

The Brand India Pharma campaign is a significant initiative led by IBEF under the aegis of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to highlight the value proposition that Indian pharmaceuticals present today to the world.

Launched at CPhI, Japan in March 2012, the Brand India Pharma campaign has played a critical role in highlighting the value proposition of Indian pharmaceutical products in the global market. India was the Focus Country at CPhI Worldwide in 2012 and the Value Partner at Frankfurt in 2013.

“The Brand India Pharma campaign has played its part, especially at CPhI Worldwide, consistently positioning India in the premium space and leveraging the platform to create a wider, informed perspective amongst relevant stakeholders,” said Aparna Dutt Sharma, CEO, IBEF.

With a strategic mix of branding elements such as on-ground branding, media outreach, participation in business seminars and industry interactions, Brand India Pharma aims to showcase the strengths of the Indian pharmaceutical industry. This year’s campaign will focus on growth drivers within the industry and will play its part in reinforcing the credibility of the Indian pharmaceutical industry.
