HDFC Bank has decided to undertake nationwide blood donation camp on December 5, 2014. It will set up over 1800 blood donation camps in more than 900 cities across India, to facilitate what would be the country’s largest single day blood donation initiative.  In each of these cities, bank has tied up with top hospitals and blood banks for support and technical assistance. It has also set up donation centres in over 700 leading colleges across India.

It’s been a long journey since the inaugural year in 2007, when the bank collected over 4,000 units of blood. This increased manifold to over 85,000 units in 2013. It is heartening to see more and more people joining this noble cause, over the last eight years. “Through such countrywide blood donation camps, we have been able to successfully create awareness about the alarming scarcity of blood and the widening gap between demand and supply in a growing nation.”
