Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) is planning to organise a National level seminar to discuss on the various opportunities and challenges for pharmaceutical industry in Telangana. The programme is scheduled to be held on 19th December at Park Hayat in Hyderabad.

According to the organisers, the pharmaceutical industry in Telangana has witnessed many ups and downs during the past few years. With the formation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, the Industry is bound to get a double boost as both the state governments are equally coming forward to help the industry in all respects.

Particularly in Telangana, the Industry has become highly saturated as it is concentrated in only 4-5 districts surrounding Hyderabad. Because of which it has to face various problems like environmental issues, lack of support from the government and ban on expansions over the past few years. But with the formation of Telangana and with new government in place, the state government is planning to come up with many new policy initiatives to rejuvenate the industry in Telangana. As part of it, the state government had also allocated more than 2000 acres of land to build a comprehensive ‘Pharmacity’ on the outskirts of Hyderabad with all amenities.

Similarly the state government in Andhra Pradesh is also leaving no stone unturned to attract more investments to the newly carved out state. To discuss on all these aspects Shiv Kumar Rungta, President of FAPCCI released a poster to organise National Seminar on 'Pharmaceutical Industry-Opportunities and Challenges in Telangana.

The National level seminar is jointly organised by FAPCCI and Government of Telangana in association with Pharmexcil and Bulk Drug Manufacturing Association (BDMA). Holistically the seminar is expected to address various issues that are affecting the growth of pharmaceutical industry in India and provide policy measures that help the industry to reach the next level. Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao along with Sudhanshu Pandey, Joint Secretary, Dept. of Commerce &Industry, and K. Pradeep Chandra, IAS, Special Chief Secretary and Commissioner for Industrial Promotion in Telangana are expected to take part in the seminar.
