Clondalkin Group's Specialist Packaging Division (SPD) has been awarded the internationally recognised occupational health and safety accreditation OHSAS 18001. Clondalkin Group, the international producer of high value-added packaging solutions, has achieved the accreditation at its two UK based sites, Clondalkin Consumer Great Harwood and Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare Northampton.
The health and safety management system provides a framework for identifying and managing health and safety risks and ensures all legal requirements relating to health and safety are met, therefore reducing the potential for accidents, and improving overall performance.
Kath Cotterill, SPD Europe Quality Manager, commenting on the accreditation said: "We are delighted to achieve this latest certification which demonstrates our commitment to the health and safety of our workforce and overall improvement of our quality systems. It means we have a systematic approach to identifying, assessing and managing health and safety risks ensuring that we have a safe and competent workforce. Customers can be assured of our ability to provide a reliable service, free of the downtime and costs associated with work related accidents and incidents."
OHSAS 18001 will provide a platform to achieve the new occupational health and safety standard, ISO 45001, expected in 2016.
