KFRC commences first authorised stem cell therapy in Telangana

KIMS Foundation & Research Center (KFRC), a non-profit and charitable trust, has started Department of Regenerative Medicine (DRM) to provide world-class revolutionised stem cell based therapy for patients.

With KIMS getting the permission for stem cell therapy in diabetic foot from department of regenerative medicine, the institute now offers approved stem cell treatment strategies for several debilitating diseases such as scleroderma, diabetic foot and systemic lupus erythematosus. “All the therapies offered at KFRC are duly approved by Institutional Committee for Stem Cell Research & Therapy (ICSCRT) and registered with Clinical Trials Registry India (CTRI), government of India,” says Dr. Kanakabhushanam, Head of the Department of KFRC.

The doctor informed that regenerative medicine holds the promise of definitive, affordable health care solutions that heal the body from within and for development of innovative stem cell based treatment for several diseases such as critical limb ischemia, diabetic foot, diabetic neuropathy, stroke, orthopaedics diseases, liver cirrhosis, myocardial infarction, baldness, senso-neural hearing loss, blindness, neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune diseases, etc. She added that the department of regenerative medicine at KFRC focusses on the development of diagnostic and therapeutic concepts and their implementation into clinical setting for various disease conditions.

The list of procedures offered at the department include, hematopoietic stem cell therapy for diabetic foot and mesenchymal stem cell therapy for autoimmune diseases such as Scleroderma & systemic lupus erythematosus. The department has the future plan of initiating stem cell therapy for delayed/non-union of fractures, Avascular Nerosis of Femoral Head (Interruption of blood supply to bone) and diabetic neuropathy.

Platelet based therapies like Platelet Rich Plasma and Platelet Rich Fibrin are being performed for facial rejuvenation, psoriasis, eczema, keratoderma, male-pattern baldness, wound healing, ankle & hamstring strain, knee injury, muscle & ligament tears and dental & gum diseases. The treatment for premature greying is under trial.

So far, the Department of Regenerative Medicine at KFRC has treated 6 patients with diabetic foot using stem cell therapy and 30 patients (indicated with conditions listed above) for Platelet Rich Plasma with 100 per cent results in curing the diseases.
