Over one hundred companies in the pharma SME sector in the southern states showcased a huge lineup of products at the trade exhibition ‘Pharmac South 2015’, organised in Chennai on July 3rd and 4th. Positive responses were received from over 2000 business buyers who have visited the site for the two-day event.

The pharmaceutical and neutraceutical companies participated in the trade show have used the platform mostly to educate their potential customers about the production facilities at their plants, the QA and QC systems, technology prowess and their product portfolios. The exhibition, in fact, showed the strength of the south Indian pharmaceutical companies for manufacturing and marketing of quality pharmaceutical, neutraceutical and Ayush products.

The local companies of the south Indian states, especially those from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Puducherry, got best opportunities to interact with large-scale buyers from all over India, and from ASEAN and Gulf countries. Likewise, the visitors could review the latest technology profiles and innovative products showcased by the manufacturers to attract more contract manufacturing agreements.

Taking view of the huge mobilization of exhibitors and visitors, the department of pharmaceuticals (DoP) has wanted the principal organiser of the event, Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association (IDMA), and its state branches to conduct such trade exhibitions in the north (Pharmac North), in the east (Pharmac East) and in the west (Pharmac West). While delivering the idea for region wise trade shows, the joint secretary of the DoP, Sudhamsu Pant said government is ready to meet the expenses for such shows.

Along with the show, the organizers have conducted seminars on various relevant topics focusing business developments in domestic and international markets. This year’s exhibition was the second edition of the trade show under the title, ‘Pharmac South’.
