The Mankind Pharma has taken an initiative to spread awareness about the importance of having strong bones, among the masses. The company has been championing this cause with their specialized ‘D3 Must Campaign’ across the country by reaching out to various schools, institutes and corporates. The company has conducted more than 250 awareness camps ‘D3 Must’.

Through a series of educational as well as awareness seminars, Mankind is highlighting the hazardous effects of insufficient levels of vitamin D3 on one’s health.

The latest World Health Organisation (WHO) study revealed that a whopping 69 per cent of Indians suffer from vitamin D deficiency, while a further 15 per cent were found to be vitamin D insufficient. In fact, seven out of 10 people who are screened for the deficiency are found to have it. Healthcare professionals blame fast-paced, stressed-out lifestyles for the cause. With long working hours and no time for outdoor activities, more and more people are suffering from vitamin D deficiency. In an attempt to avoid sun exposure, they completely deprive their body of sunlight, which is essential for natural production of vitamin D.

The company roped in experts to impart the essential knowledge on vitamin D3 deficiency and its significance to 5000 participants. Through a presentation and interactive sessions, the factors to stall the deficiency besides myths and misconception associated with the same were shared.

“Initiating the vitamin D3 deficiency awareness drive across various educational institutes and corporates, is aimed at generating knowledge of having vitamin D3 in proper amount. A lack of vitamin D does not just affect your bones, but poses more serious problems when neglected. These awareness seminars will help the masses to relate to the importance of having strong bones and ways to keep it healthy till ages,” said Sheetal Arora, marketing director, Mankind Pharma.

Vitamin D3 plays a vital role in ensuring healthy being. Factors such as not having enough vitamins, using sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, limited exposure to sunlight, dark skin, and age prevents one from getting enough vitamin D3. Its deficiency is linked to a number of other health conditions like depression, back pain, cancer, and insulin resistance.
