Equipment Maintenance Zone
One of the highlights of this year’s event is the new zone called “Equipment Maintenance Zone” which is specialised in surface finishing, machining techniques, machine components/materials, and maintenance services. Other popular zones are the Korea Pavilion and the India Pavilion. These two large international pavilions will surely be more attractive with support from their national organizations.

According to the organizers, many brand-new products will be unveiled at the show this year as well. Just to name a few, a scaled up version of M Technique Co.'s forced thin-film microreactor, Ulrea SS-300, will be exhibited on-site. Nippon Becton Dickinson Company Ltd. will perform demonstrations of the new MicroBio µ3D colony rapid fully automated detection system.

Kyoto Electronics Manufacturing Co. Ltd. will also introduce their Electro Magnetically Spinning Viscometer publicly for the first time.

The conference program is also one of the main attractions of the event. The program offers a total of 140 sessions throughout the show period, covering the entire range of current issues and topics in the pharmaceutical field: pharmaceuticals, life science, drug discovery, cosmetic R&D, product planning and more.

The last year event
From July 2 to 4, 2014, the 27th INTERPHEX JAPAN and 8th in-PHARMA JAPAN were held at Tokyo Big Sight with 942 exhibitors and 32,974 visitors. As Japan’s largest pharmaceutical event, the total number of visitors expanded notably compared to that of the previous year.

In particular, the highlights of the last year event were the Indian Pavilion and the Korean Pavilion which led to an increase in the number of overseas exhibitors.

The first ever “Partner Country” of INTERPHEX JAPAN and in-PHARMA JAPAN was India, which is increasing its presence in the world’s pharmaceutical industry. India is among the top six producers of pharmaceuticals in the world and ranks fourth in terms of total pharma market share in the Asia Pacific.

Senior officials from the Department of Commerce, along with representatives from the Federation of Indian Commerce and Industry (Ficci) and a large contingent of Indian business leaders, represented the Brand India Pharma at the Indian Pavilion during the show. Rajeev Kher, Commerce Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, also gave a talk in the Keynote Session on “The India Pharmaceutical Industry - Hidden Potential Power “. Mainly organized by Ficci, the India Pavilion served as the meeting ground for many Japanese leaders and companies in the pharmaceutical industry. “Both Japan and India are progressing well in various areas of today’s pharmaceutical business. We should extend further cooperation and partnership between the two countries,” said Rajeev Kher.

Actual equipment and products were displayed at each booth and detailed technical consultations were conducted as well. The year 2014s number of overseas exhibitors has almost doubled since the previous show. The majority of them were from major pharmaceutical producing countries such as USA, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherland, Republic of Korea, China, Taiwan, and Indonesia. In addition to many overseas suppliers attending the show at their distributors’ booths, more and more companies tend to have their own booth to focus on the Japanese market.
