BSE Healthcare index dips by over 300 points in afternoon session

BSE Healthcare (BSE HC) index of 63 pharma and healthcare companies declined sharply in the morning session today and out of 63 companies share price of one company improved and remaining 62 companies declined. BSE HC index declined by 343.42 points to 15722.43 points from its previous day's close of 16065.85. The benchmark BSE Sensex of 30 companies also declined sharply by over 219 points to 24462 points.

Several leading pharma companies like Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Lupin, Wockhardt, Aurobindo Pharma, Strides, Jubilant Life, Torrent Pharma, Ipca, Biocon, Ajanta Pharma Granules India, Alkem Laboratories, Syngene International Caplin Point, Sun Pharma Advance Research Co, etc declined sharply. Even multinational companies like GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Abbott India, Sanofi India, Novartis India and  AstraZeneca Pharma received setback. Two healthcare companies like Apollo Hospitals and Fortis Healthcare also nosedived by over Rs. 18 in the morning session.

Sun Pharmaceutical and Glenmark Pharmaceutical were in positive area and registered small gains. Cipla and Cadial Healthcare were relatively better position and clocked smaller loss compared to other pharma scrips.
