Zota to invest Rs.30 cr for new plant in Surat to step up production capacity & export

Zota Healthcare, a Gujarat based pharmaceutical company is planning to invest Rs.30 crore to set up a new plant in Surat, Gujarat to increase the production capacity as the company is planning to expand and strengthen its export in Latin America and African countries by the end of the next fiscal year.

The plant will be located at Hojiwala estate, Surat. 3600 sq. mt of land has been acquired for the set up. The plant will produce 3.6 billion tablets and 3 billion capsules per annum.

Ketan Zota, director, Zota Healthcare says, “The company is planning to come up with a specialty-care division. We are awaiting a few product patents so that the next step would be commercialising of those patents in domestic and export markets as well.”

He Further says, “Zota is also planning to have a small scale R&D and formulation & development within the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) unit, Surat. Provisions for which were already done earlier. This would help us to develop more of patented products and would also help us to commercialise a few patents already granted and in pipe line.”

Speaking on the company's plan to come up with an Initial Public Offering (IPO), Zota says, “We are keen to offer an IPO, which we will launch in the 2nd Quarter of FY 2016-17 and there are 3-4 major projects that are under the pipeline and in development phase. The company plans to add a range of new products under new brands and is focused on marketing them extensively.”

At present, the company has one plant with the production capacity of 90 million tablets and 50 million capsules per month. Currently, the company is exporting to Kenya, Nigeria, Burndi, Srilanka, Vietnam, Cyprus, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Libya, Cambodia, Turkestan, Uzbekistan and Somalia and plans to expand its export to Latin America and African countries.
