Medanta hosts 57th annual conference of Indian Society of Gastroenterology in Delhi

Medanta – The Medicity organized ‘57th Annual Conference’ of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) in association with Society of GI Endoscopy of India (SGEI) & Indian Association of the Study of Liver (INASL). The four day Conference is being held between 15th and 18th December 2016.

The event was being inaugurated by the Chief Guest and the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan and Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta The Medicity, the Guest of Honour.

Dr Randhir Sud, chairman, Medanta Institute of Digestive and Hepatobiliary Sciences, as well as the Organizing Chairman of the conference said, “More than 2500 delegates from India and neighboring countries are participating in the event. More than 30 eminent international speakers from USA, Europe, Japan & China deliberated on the recent relevancies in the field of gastroenterology.”

“The highlights of the event was a leadership summit where the Presidents of American Society of Gastro-intestinal Endoscopy, American Gastroenterology Association, World Endoscopy Organisation and Indian Society of Gasteroenteroogy along with Dr Naresh Trehan and Dr Shiv Sarin, Member of Oversight Committee (MCI) deliberated and gave their views on raising the standards of affordable & ethical healthcare delivery in India by ensuring high standard medical education and research in the field of Gastroenterology.” He added.

Dr Naresh Trehan mentioned, “Medanta the Medicity apart from being a state of the heart facility of patient healthcare is also focused on education and research in the field of medicine and is always in the forefront to promote such opportunities.”

The event was carefully planned not only to give the latest on gastroenterology to delegates but also to give them the insights into how international cooperation in medical education & research can help in the delivery of affordable and ethical healthcare in India. This will also open up the possible ways of Indian gastroenterologists initiating research by starting mentorship programs by gastroenterologists in other countries.

This will be the biggest event in Digestive Sciences in the Indian Subcontinent with nearly 2500 delegates attending the event. ISGCON will also be hosting President of AGA, Prof. Timothy C. Wang, USA and President of ASGE Prof. Kenneth McQuaid, USA to give their visionary thoughts during the leadership summit focused on future of Gastroenterology.

The CME will focus on Luminal Disease and GI Emergencies. An additional Special Interest Group Meetings and Meet the Professor Sessions are the focused areas spanning the entire gamut of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. There will also be workshops and symposiums with national and international researchers for the young minds.
