The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has issued a final warning to 19 of the top 100 pharma companies in the country which have not registered with the NPPA's ambitious project of Ingredient Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS), which was launched in September last year with the objective of creating an appropriate mechanism of obtaining market-based data related to drugs.

“It has been observed that despite continuous follow up by NPPA, your company has not yet registered with the IPDMS system.  You are given a final opportunity to get your company registered under IPDMS before 05.06.2015, or explain the reason for not registering by making personal appearance before Member Secretary on 08.06.2015 at 3 pm in NPPA”, the NPPA in its letter to these 19 companies said.

The 19 companies which did not so far register with the IPDMS of the NPPA include Alkem Laboratories,  IPCA Laboratories, Wockhardt, Indoco Remedies, Himalaya Drug Company, Akumentis Healthcare, Meyer Organics, Raptakos Brett & Co, Systopic Laboratories,  British Biological, Shreya Life Aciences, Charak Pharma,  Danone, Indchemie Health Specialities, Bestochem Formulations, Walter Bushnell, Samarth Pharma, Indswift Laboratories and Dabur India.

Earlier in September last year, the NPPA in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) had developed the IPDMS, and  asked all the pharma companies in the country to register themselves under IPDMS for online filing of returns in Form II, III and V under DPCO 2013.

Even though the NPPA had extended the last date for registration several times and had warned of stern action, a large number of pharma companies, including large companies, did not register themselves under IPDMS.

Now, the NPPA has issued the final warning to those companies which have so far failed to register with the IMDMS.
