At Chemtech Foundation, the last three decades have been that of continuous striving for excellence in its chosen sphere of activity catalyzing technology and trade flows through a series of activity including exhibitions, conferences and recognition of talent.
Starting off with the first business exhibition of its kind in 1975. Chemtech Foundation, driven by the vision of Jasu Shah, its Founder Chairman, has remained in the limelight owing to its ability to sense change and mould its charter accordingly. But at the core of the organization has been a deep commitment to innovate and support innovation. This commitment is manifested in the Foundation''s new charter "Inspiring Intelligence...Igniting Innovation". Chemtech 2003 is the first step in the realization of this new charter
The Foundation is also working on several other projects to implement its objectives. The Chemtech Innovation Board has been constituted with Dr. Ashok Ganguly, Chairman, ICI Ltd, as it Chairman. A Chemtech Innovation Forum for young leaders is also being formed, targeting at least 500 young people form the industry, research and academia.
While Chemtech Foundation has always etched out its role wit a finger on the pulse of the industry, the industry too has recognized and supported its activities in every step.
Dhirubhai Ambani, the great industrialist and visionary leader, had summed up the Foundation''s catalyzing role in these words, in the prologue to Jasu Shah''s book The Journey is the Reward*:
"Since 1975, Chemtech, a truly pioneering effort, has to its credit manifold achievements. It has become an important catalyst across this entire spectrum, and has contributed significantly to the development of the industry. More than anything else, it has brought about a major change in attitudes and mindset.
I am happy that the Chemtech Foundation is redefining its role in its thrust areas so as to meet new and ever-growing challenges. This is extremely important at this juncture when technology is offering exciting solutions to challenges on the productivity front and innovations are opening up new windows of opportunity. Therefore I, am very happy that Chemtech has set before it the mission of ''Inspiring Intelligence'' and ''Igniting Innovation''. The successful implementation of this noble objective would give a dramatic fillip to India''s economic, technological and social transformation. Their emphasis on Pharma and Biotechnology industries strengthens my belief that knowledge-based industries will pave the way for progress and prosperity in the twenty-first century. All segments of the chemical industry need to work together in a seamless fashion to take advantage of the new era of convergence."
