First CPhI-China was held at the Intex exhibition center in Shanghai in July 2001. 190 active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufactures and intermediates producers presented their product portfolio. And 6892 visitors from inside and abroad the mainland participated in the event.
The second edition of CPhI China was held in Shanghai in June 2002. CPhI 2002 showed a 14 per cent increase in visitor numbers; in all 7856 individual visitors from 32 Chinese regions and 53 overseas countries attended the exhibition.
CPhI China 2003 expects a much wider participation this time as the amount of re-bookings and new reservations already exceeds this year's exhibition space, according to the CPhI official website.
China Chamber of Commerce of Medicines & Health Product Importers and Exporters (CCCMHPIE) will act as a local-organizer for this event. It is hoped that CCMHPIE-would help making the event runaway success by its members becoming highly valuable go-betweens for companies eager to do business in China.
