This year's Cordia Biotechnology Convention is set to take place at ExCel, London, UK from October 11th to13th. As a strategic European business event for biotechnology business leaders, Cordia's high-level business conference and international exhibition aim to promote the research and services to new business partners and suppliers from a diverse range of global companies.
The conference programme covers four essential tracks, science, finance, policy and emerging opportunities presented by a panel of over 140 specialists. It includes 41 individual topics presented by leading industry speakers across white, green and red biotech; 4 individual workshops and master classes plus IP Law, Accessing Capital for Biotech Development and An Introduction to the New Human Proteome Project; 6 key topics and 12 sessions dedicated to emerging opportunities designed to stimulate growth and showcase how Europe can cultivate its position as a global biotechnology leader.
The conference opens with a plenary session on The Lisbon Strategy chaired by Ann Mettler with Dr Bernard Kouchner, Prof Barry Furr, Clive Cookson and Dr Johan Vanhemelrijck reviewing the latest economic and scientific advances in European biotechnology.
The three day programme includes a first-ever licensing master-class with Roche and Genentech, with contributions from AstraZeneca, CAT, Wood McKenzie and Antisoma; a presentation on the potential of Metabonomics led by Professor Jeremy Nicholson; a debate on the future of the European bioscience economy with Frederick Frank, G. Steven Burrill, Gordon Duncan and Denis Lucquin; discussion on the issues still surrounding global immunisation with contributions from Prof Trevor Jones, Dr Joy Phumaphi, Dr Tore Godal and Dr Bernard Kouchner.
The closing session of this year's Cordia will focus on the contentious issue of stem cells and their use in healthcare. The discussion, featuring a world-leading panel of experts, will be chaired by Dr Matt Ridley (author of 'Genome' and 'The Red Queen').
Coinciding with Cordia is BioPartnering Europe to be held from 9th to 11th of October. Produced by Technology Vision Group LLC, BioPartnering Europe (BPE) is Europe's longest running life science partnering conference and consistently attracts leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, service and financial companies.
