The healthcare sector in Brazil is a mix of public and private services with around 7200 hospitals having around 5 lacs bed and 280 thousand doctors. Around 12,000 diagnostics clinics are present across the country.

The Ahmedabad-based Claris Lifesciences Ltd plays a major role in US $ 5 billion hospital services segment in Brazil through its critical care products. Its range of products and delivery systems extends across blood products and plasma volume expanders, anaesthesia), enteral and parenteral nutrition, renal care including transplant therapy and medical equipment and hospital care products.

Established in 1998 as Zeus Lifesciences Ltd, the company is now registered in Brazil, as Claris Produtos Farmaceuticos do Brasil Ltda. Its manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad is registered with ANVISA - the Brazilian regulatory body. Its laboratory in Brazil has also been certified by ANVISA for Good Laboratory Practices. Claris has employed Brazilian nationals working as field executives apart from the Indian staff.

Its major products in Brazil are propofol, ciprofloxacin, flucanazole & hydroxyethyl starch, metaclopromide.

With state of the art technology, Claris has marketing operations in more than 45 countries through its subsidiaries, offices and distributors, with a customer profile including institutions, major corporate hospitals and international aid agencies.
