At a time when major developments are taking place in the global pharmaceutical arena, the pharma fraternity will be gathering at one of the largest and well attended international forums on global pharmaceutical industry at Madrid, the capital of Spain and the well-known international trade centre in Europe, to take the industry to newer levels of growth.
With more than 2,200 exhibitors, including 100 new exhibitors and having an 84 per cent retention rate from 2011 in Frankfurt, UBM Lives' flagship pharma portfolio of events including CPhI worldwide for pharmaceutical ingredients, ICSE for outsourced and contract services, P-MEC Europe for pharmaceutical machinery equipment and technology and InnoPack for innovative packaging solutions will be held at Feria de Madrid in Spain from October 9 to 11, 2012.

The event now covers more than 60,000 square metres of exhibition space and is the market leader for the global pharmaceutical ingredients industry.
Last year's event at the Messe Frankfurt in Germany broke all previous records with just under 30,000 visitors. This year is once again expected to break records with projections to surpass 30,000 visitors from 140 countries and 2,200 exhibitors. The conference aims to increase industry awareness through rigorous analysis of global and regional trends—from sourcing APIs to advancing drug delivery.
Post 2011 show surveys attest to the event’s success, with 92 per cent of exhibitors and 94 per cent of visitors agreeing that the event is the key meeting place for the pharmaceutical industry. Organisers UBM has announced that the event will return to Frankfurt, Germany from October 22 to 24, 2013.
“We experienced a phenomenal response to the 2011 events and this has influenced our decision to return to Messe Frankfurt in 2013,” commented UBM Live Pharma Portfolio Director Greg Kerwin.

Europe is spotlighted through pavilions for the UK, France, Ireland, Scotland, and Portugal, while the North Africa, Egypt and Morocco represent Africa. The North American pavilion showcases the United States and features a record of 39 exhibitors, including the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Associates (SOCMA).
After the successful introduction of zoning to many of UBM Lives' global events, the format will return to Madrid and has been expanded to include new zones. The goal behind zoning is to facilitate navigation of the show floors so that guests can easily locate the resources they need.
A zone-based layout will give exhibitors and visitors higher visibility, to promote and deliver their message even more effectively to a worldwide audience.
Zoning helps bringing businesses from a given sector of the pharmaceutical industry together in one area, in order to raise the profile of that sector and showcase its distinct qualities.
Zoning makes CPhI easier to navigate and guide more visitors to an exhibitor's stand. It enables faster movement between areas, which means more time for visitors to spend making contacts and doing business. Dedicated areas make the event more logical and support the growth of CPhI Worldwide for exhibitors. Moreover it helps in targeted marketing.
The zones in CPhI Worldwide include: APIs; Generic APIs; Custom Manufacturing; Fine Chemicals; Intermediates; Excipients/ Formulations; Biopharmaceuticals and General.

Over the years, India has emerged as major exporters of generic pharmaceuticals products with a strong manufacturing base. In conjunction with the country's rich vendor base, India is also emerging as hub for contract research, biotechnology, clinical trials and clinical data management.
The key objective is to bring global recognition to pharma developed and manufactured from India which are high quality, authentic and safe, but also affordable. The need for such a strategy is strengthened further in view of reports in various market places about concerns on quality of pharma products sourced from India which affects the brand image of the Indian pharma industry. At the same time it calls for initiating sustained activities to challenge and dispel wrongly propagated ideas about Indian pharma , mainly generics.
In view of the global audience converging at the event, Pharmexcil is also planning a series of programmes to create visibility of Brand India Pharma. The proposed activities include inauguration of India pavilion, CEOs meeting, regulators meet, buyer - seller meet , sponsoring innovation Award function of UBM on October 9, business seminar on Indian generics on October 10 and evening reception and cultural programme hosted by Pharmecil on October 10.
