Genome Valley: Fertile ground for bio aspirants

In an effort to facilitate the biotech activity in the state, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has declared an area of approximately 600 sq. km as "Genome Valley". First of its kind in the country, Genome Valley is currently is one of the most attractive destinations for bio entrepreneurs who are keen on R&D as well as manufacturing .

The state government have created state-of- the-art specialized infrastructure like ICICI Knowledge Park, Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park, ICRISAT- Agri- science Park and a Biotechnology Incubation Centre.

As a striking realisation of the AP govt's goal for developing and strengthening partnerships between Research institutions / Academia and the industry, the Genome Valley is also home for some of the most prominent institutions in the country, like Indian Institute of Chemical technology (IICT), National Institute for nutrition (NIN), Center for DNA fingerprinting & diagnostics (CDFD) and Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology(CCMB).

Genome Valley is the first one of its kind biotech cluster in India for life science research, training and manufacturing activities. Advantages in Bio-Pharma & agri-biotech sector in Andhra Pradesh enable more than 100 biotech companies to flourish, which makes Genome Valley the most fertile soil in India that can foster growth at a staggering pace.

Good infrastructure, easy accessibility, business friendly policies and other unique benefits are attracting many new companies to establish their units in the SP Biotech Park and the ICICI Park in Genome valley.
