Marposs Spa, the Italy based company into the field measurement inspection systems with sub micron accuracy and repeatability features, is directly and indirectly indulged in introducing products for the pharmacy industry suitable for tablet tool punches and dies and tablet manufacturing.

The production unit basically consists of three fixtures, two for the punch and one for the die component. The two fixtures for the punch component consist of LVDT sensors along with a digital micrometer to measure round and capsule type punches. The facility is designed to check parameters including body dia, body taper, tip dia, tip run out, total and working length and cupdepth.

The third fixture with LYDT sensors, basically to check bore dia of the die component makes it easily re-toolable and cover the standard range of diameters suitable for tablet tools. These fixtures and the digital micrometer are then connected to a PC Interface Box and further to a local PC with a special software package to provide a user-friendly display and printout of all the required parameters in the standard format shown.

The fixtures also provide a diagrammatic or layout format of all the measurements on the screen and it is notable that these parameters can be stored in the hard disc in Excel format, which can be retrieved whenever required. The product also facilitates an additional feature, statistical analysis facility, that is available in the software package to view different statistics formats as may be required and any special measurement of mechanical components can also be considered.

The systems have been recently introduced in India by Marposs Spa through their sole sales and service agents, MTI Ltd, who are planning to display the products at the Chemtech exhibition, to be held between Feb 6 and 10, 2007 at NSE complex, Goregaon, Mumbai.
