The Bangalore-based Sami Labs Limited, is aiming high to grab the huge potential of herbal neutraceu-tical, cosmoceutical and pharmaceutical market in Japan through its subsidiary Sabinsa Japan Corporation Ltd.
The company has already introduced more than 25 nutritional supplement products in Japanese market. The product line includes patented herbal formulations like coleus forskohlii to promote lean body mass and treating mood disorders, piperine to Increase the bioavailability of nutritional compounds, garcinia water soluble to appetite suppression and induction of weight loss and curcuminoids, a bioprotectant composition and anti oxidant.
"Japan represents great potential for us because the Japanese understand and appreciate the power of nature, and prefer to go with a natural product when given the opportunity. With a strong product line up in nutraceuticals, we are currently planning to focus on aggressive launching of cosmeceuticals in Japan," said Dr Majeed Muhammad, chairman and managing director of Sami Labs Limited and the founder and CEO of Sabinsa Corporation Ltd. Sabinsa is lining up six new cosmoceutical products to launch in Japan within March 2008.
The herbal products market of Japan stands next to America for its size and quality standards. "Sabinsa is currently marketing its patented and unique products in the Japanese market with the approval from the food regulatory authority of the country, which makes our access to market easier," he averred when asked about the regulatory set up of Japan.
The company is also warming up with some major plans to initiate in Japan, including building up of intense business relation with the Japan companies through partnership and filing of NDA for its allopathic product.
Apart from its aggressive lining up in herbal neutraceutical and cosmeceuticals products, the company is also offering Japan focused IT solutions through its IT firm Edkal Business Solutions. The firm offers services on R&D, software solutions and services for high-tech, process-intensive industries for the need of life sciences industries like nutraceuticals pharmaceuticals and health care.
Edkal is basically focused on Japan offering services right from supporting and enhancing ERP and custom solutions for customers, to content and IP management to the more obscure algorithm application for Japan with specific programmes to hedge fund management and circuit simulation for nanotechnology. The entire staff in the company learns Japanese for two hours a day in a dedicated facility in line with a goal to form a bilingual and bicultural staff that can communicate easily with Japanese clients, according to company officials.
The US based Sabinsa Corporation, manufaturer and supplier of nutritional supplements, cosmeceuticals, fine chemicals, specialty chemicals, phytochemicals, phyto nutrients and herbal extracts for health products companies as a subsidiary of Sami Labs Limited, has also plans to bring in more projects and products from herbal base in USA and Italy.
