Signet Chemical Corporation is currently thriving in the Indian specialty chemicals sector with a completely revived management focus after it took a new turn five years ago incorporating a new identity and name.

This specialty chemicals trading firm, which has been in the pharma excepients market in the country since 1985 by providing a wide range of chemicals sourced from around the world, has now adopted a completely restructured business outlook to become a complete solution provider to the industry.

Having a distribution tie-up with as many as fourteen MNCs and a product range of around 120, Signet''s client bank is spread over the pharmaceutical, surface coating, paint, foundry, personal care, food processing and several other industries in the country.

"Our technical and sales team works in tandem with customers from various parts of India to put in place the right products and application conditions to deliver the required level of quality and performance," says Harish Shah, managing partner, Signet.

Shah points out that today the market is very competitive, so a very professional management approach is inevitable in every sector irrespective of the size of the market and the size of company. "That way, we pride ourselves on our cost-effective technical support, which takes into account all the relevant system parameters of the client and the industry and our emphasis on quality products and prompt service has enabled us to become market leaders in the specialty chemicals field," he adds.

Signet''s vast product line now represents the world''s leading manufacturers from the USA, Germany, Holland, France, Japan, Belgium, Portugal and Norway. Its MNC principals currently include FMC, Roquette, ShinEtsu, Aqualon, Asahi KASEI, Avebe, ISP, CPKelco, Amcol, Ferro, Luzanac, Rhodia, Musashino, Kronos, Solutia etc.

Though there a large number of small traders in the Indian specialty chemicals sector, the strength of organized players is the reliability and consistency. Being one of the top players in the segment, Signet''s current turnover is Rs 75 crore which is perhaps the largest turnover in the industry. The company has maintained an average growth rate of 25 per cent during the last five years, which is much more than industry average.

"Signet''s mission is to be the preferred supplier of specialty chemicals and achieve total customer satisfaction. All our energy and enthusiasm is directed to this one overriding objective. We constantly add new chemicals to our product range," Shah said.

Harish and his wife Bina Shah, the two partners, are currently committed to grow with the trend with a team of professionals in the sector and to make the company not only a reliable supplier to the industry but a complete solution provider.
