The 8-year-old True Pack, a leading player in India for the manufacture of a range of drug delivery devices in plastics has adopted state-of-the-art injection blow moulding (IBM) technology which operates in a controlled clean room environment to pack sterile ophthalmics, nasal and oral drops for both human and veterinary use at an investment of Rs 12 crore. The company is further allocating Rs 45 crore in the next three years to focus on the regulated markets and expand its plant operation within the country and globally.
The Bangalore-based company is a part of the Comcraft & Tecapet based in United Kingdom a group which has extensive experience in plastics and plastic processing industry in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. "We have introduced the concept of design and manufacture of Three Piece Droppers using IBM technology housed in ultra modern Class 10, 000 facility at Bangalore. This finds wide application in packing of ophthalmic, nasal and other oral drops," said MK Thimmiah, director, True Pack. Prior to the introduction of this technology, there had been small players in the extrusion blow moulding technology and outdated glass bottles segment with no particular focus on pharma.
The company has obtained ISO 9001-2000, applied for patenting its novel product features and has adopted cGMP practices, as applicable to pharma industry. Its clientele includes Alcon, Sun Pharma, Novartis, Indoco Remedies, FDC, Cadila, Sunways, Himalaya, MicroVision, Syntho, Klar Sehn, Medreich Sterilab, Intas, Centaur, and Shalina among others. It has also made successful forays into exports to UK, Malaysia, Philippines and Nepal.
The product range includes Tampsafe drops pack, Tamplock drops pack, Tampvial injection vial, Tampspray nasal spray bottles, Tamporal drops pack.
The company which bagged the WorldStar and India Star Packaging Awards has chalked out aggressive plans to step up exports to regulated markets by end of 2005 and establish multiple manufacturing facilities in India and abroad. It also intends to diversify into manufacture of containers for oral solids (with DMF no., with screw/CRC caps) for the US generic market, which is an import substitute. Efforts would also be made to enter the market for sterile parental products (SVP) using the latest plastics and technologies. It is keen to set-up a gamma sterilization plant.
