SIES School of Packaging to conduct 2-day packaging conference on March 13 & 14 in Navi Mumbai

SIES School of Packaging/Packaging Technology Centre (SIES SOP/PTC)  will conduct two-day orientation programme on packaging of pharmaceutical products at Auditorium of SIES School of Packaging, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, on March 13 and 14, 2018.

A number of key topics on pharma packaging will be covered during the conference. Some of the presentations that will appear on day one are “Pharma sector - an overview, role of packaging in the pharma industry growth” by Vipul P Vasant, director of contract manufacturing operations of Pfizer Ltd, “Pharma Packaging - Glass” by Vikas Acharya, vice president - sales & marketing, Nipro Pharma Packaging India, “Pharma Packaging - Elastomeric compounds” by Rahul Dev/ Dr Karne, VP India, Datwyler Sealing Solution, Desiccants in Pharma Packaging” by Priyanka Kumbhar, technical support, Cilicant, “Folding Board Cartons for Pharma Sector” by Rajender Rajput, RH packaging development, Cipla, “Lebels and Labelling” by Amar Chhajed, president - Labelling Business, Huhtamaki PPL (Webtech Division), “Inspection and Trace and Track System” by Himunshu Doshi, senior GM - sales, Kevision Systems, “Solid Dose Packaging - Developments in Packaging Media and Systems” by Jawad Kamal, Amcor Flexibles.

On day two the presentations will be made on following: “Regulatory affairs - A status review” by Murlidhar Deshpande, Pfizer, “E&L” by Shivkumar Vishwanathan, GVS Cibatech, “Anticounterfeit measures in Pharma Packaging” by Rohitt D Mistry, chairman, Holographics & Marking Systems, “Inspection Systems/Bar Coding/Batch Coding, Carton Handling” by Gaurang Thumar, CEO, Sundaram Technologies, “Unitisation & Collation - end of line packaging” by SS Cooper, director - Minipack and “Packaging Machinery and Systems - Blister Packaging and Cartoning Machinery” by Mahadevan G Iyer, MD, IMA-PG India Pvt Ltd.

The deliberations will benefit the cross section of product and package development personnel, procurement, QC and R&D personnel, supply chain personnel, production and those connected to regulatory aspects, etc.

The Indian pharma sector has played a pivotal role in India’s economic growth contributing about 10 per cent of global production by volume. In terms of value, the India's share is of the order of 2.4 per cent globally and estimated at Rs. 15,500 crore in 2015-16. It thus enjoys a strong position in the world. The pharma sector probably along the food sector has the privilege of using the best of cross section of packaging materials, packages, packaging machinery and the ancillaries. The industry needs to address to pressing challenges ensuring to provide user convenience, safety, regulatory and patent compliance. A major issue faced by the industry relate to pilferage, counterfeiting, tampering and the like. The packaging materials and package supply sources need always to be in the forefront in their developmental activities and adopt improved materials and advanced technologies and provide dynamic packaging solutions with appropriate design, labelling, meeting product and user demographic needs besides complying with regulatory aspects – both domestic and global.

It is obvious that the packaging and packaging machinery sector have a more responsible and critical role to play with the safety of ultimate consumer – a life saving issue.

Having seized of the above and considering the need of the hour, the SIES SOP/PTC have in consultation with and advices from veteran packaging and related sources have considered it more opportune to organize the above two-day orientation programme.

The fee payable Rs. 5,000/- plus 18% GST (Total Rs. 5,900/-) per delegate. The fee includes registration fee, programme kit with back ground materials (CD), tea/coffee/beverages/snacks and lunch, besides laboratory demonstration.
