2-day conference on anti-counterfeiting & brand protection to be held from Nov 24 in Mumbai

India’s pharmaceuticals industry is rapidly growing as a key sunrise sector of the economy, poised to grow at a CAGR of 14.5 per cent until 2020 to reach USD 55 billion. India's generic drugs account for as much as a whopping 20 per cent of global exports in terms of volume. However, counterfeiting remains a big menace for the Indian pharma industry leading to not only huge revenue losses but also denting the brand and reputation, while at the same time posing grave health risks to the patient.

Pharmasafe India, a two-day comprehensive conference on anti-counterfeiting and brand protection to be held on November 24, 25, 2015 at Courtyard Marriott, Mumbai, will bring together 150 delegates and speakers representing cross-section of stake-holders at a common platform to enable panel discussions, presentations, sharing of insights, best practices and strategies to tackle the counterfeiting challenge. The speakers will divulge strategies and identify solutions to slowdown the pace of USD 4.25 billion (Rs. 65675.5 crores) fake drugs market for safeguarding public health. Also, with the industry set to cross USD 10 billion (Rs. 27912 crores) by 2017, the dent it can cause on brand reputation remains one of the biggest concerns of the corporate sector.

The conference which will be organised by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt. Ltd. will be attended by business leaders from top pharma companies, eminent experts, anti-counterfeiting solutions and services providers, government and regulatory authorities, customs, pharmacists and professionals etc, apart from leading industry associations and international bodies such as Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA), Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs (FOPE) etc.

The delegates will include heads of legal, supply chain, packaging, corporate security, corporate quality assurance and regulatory departments from top pharma companies, apart from anti-counterfeiting service providers, authentication technology suppliers, IP specialists, investigators, lawyers, packaging, labelling and converting companies, drug regulatory agencies, customs etc.

The conference programme will feature presentations, case studies and panel discussions addressing topics such as: coordinated efforts against counterfeiting – role of industry, retailers and pharmacists; overview of authentication solutions – how to select solutions according to your needs; effect of parallel trade on the industry and ways to tackle it; government initiatives, regulations, policies and strategies against drug counterfeiting; ‘mobile product authentication’ for protection against counterfeiting; packaging innovations and latest development in track & trace technologies.
