2-day conference on research in instrumentation & robotics for surgery to be held in Pune from April 7

Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, along with Persistent Systems, the leader in outsourced software product development (OPD) services company and Precision Automation & Robotics India Ltd. (PARI) hosted the two-day long exclusive conference for promoting research in instrumentation and robotics for surgery.

The two day conference will be held at Persistent Systems, Dewang Mehta Auditorium, Pune office on April 7 and 8.

The consultation will bring together a multi-disciplinary community of eminent surgeons, physicians, engineers and computer scientists to discuss latest advances in the field of surgical robotics and medical instrumentation. The sessions will emphasize on promoting collaborative research in this field and will also brainstorm regarding India’s preparedness for building indigenous surgical instrumentation and robots.

Prof. Dr Arun Jamkar, vice chancellor of MUHS made the announcement about the two day conference which will be inaugurated by the Central Minister of Science & Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences, Vilasrao Deshmukh and pro-chancellor of MUHS & Govt. Maharashtra, Minister of Medical Education Dr Vijaykumar Gavit, while Dr A D Sahasrabudhe, director and professor, College of Engineering, Dr V D Karad, founder and executive president of Maharashtra Academy of Engineering & Educational Research, Dr R Thakkedath, vice chancellor, Kochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi and Dr V M Pandharipande, vice chancellor, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad will be the guest of honour for the inauguration.

Dr Jamkar, said, “We are extremely happy to partner with Persistent Systems and PARI for organizing this distinctive event. Technology is a key contributor towards the success and developments that take place in healthcare. We need knowledge sharing platforms like these, where experts from both the domains can effectively collaborate and pave the way to bring out new advancements in the healthcare in our country.”

Some of the key speakers attending the consultation are Dr Ramakant Panda (Asian Heart Institute and Research Centre, Mumbai); Dr Hemant Bhansali (Consultant Laparoscopic & Thoracoscopic Surgeon); Imran Shaikh (LENITZ Medical Solutions Pvt. Ltd.); Nandkumar S (Perfint Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.); Dr Shailesh Puntambekar (Galaxy Care Laparoscopy Institute); Dr Kavi Arya (IIT, Bombay); Dr M Manivannan (IIT, Madras) and many more.

This conference is spearheaded by Dr Jamkar and Dr Abhay Jere, associate vice president, Life Sciences Business Unit, Persistent Systems. This event is part of BioCrats, a unique idea generation platform where researchers can post, discuss and brainstorm on new scientific ideas and projects. Recently, the company also hosted an international workshop on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) under BioCrats.
