Cord blood bank company, LifeCell, has enrolled 3000 expectant parents for stem cell banking.
Launched in November 2004, LIfeCell is India's first private cord blood bank for umbilical cord stem cells in the country.
"We have achieved a major milestone in just 20 months of operations. Over 3,000 expectant parents from all corners of the country have enrolled with us and over 4000 are in touch with us," S Abhaya Kumar, vice chairman & CEO, LifeCell, said in a release.
The company has recorded maximum enrolments from New Delhi and Mumbai followed by centres in South India namely, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
LifeCell currently has 16 marketing and collection centres in India and plans expand to 24 cities by December 2006. This year, LifeCell also plans to launch an exclusive stem cell therapy centre in association with Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, at Chennai for Haematological and Oncological ailments. The exclusive stem cell therapy centre will start operations by September 2006, the release said.
