3rd World Ayurvedic Congress to be held at Jaipur from Dec 16-21

The 3rd World Ayurvedic Congress & AROGYA 2008 (WAC 2008) will be organised at Jaipur from 16 to 21 December, 2008. While the Arogya Expo will begin on December 16, the WAC will begin on December 19. Union minister for health & family welfare Dr Anbumani Ramadoss will inaugurate the event where minister of state for commerce & power Jairam Ramesh will be the chief guest. The theme of the Congress is 'mainstreaming ayurveda'.

Around 5,000 delegates from different parts of the world are expected to attend this world ayurvedic event. Delegates from Malaysia, Sri Lanka and erstwhile CIS countries will be present in the Congress. Besides, representatives from over 10 European and US-based ayurvedic sector associations are also attending WAC 2008.

Scholars and scientists have contributed over 500 published papers and a selection would be read at the Congress. The programme entails over six plenary sessions and a seven track parallel programmes. The plenary sessions will be held on Mainstreaming Ayurveda, Globalisation of Ayurveda, Ayurveda R&D and Publications, Ayurved Education, Ayurvedic Industry and Herbo-Minerals Safety & Efficacy. In addition to the plenary programmes, there will be focus workshops being organised on medicinal plants and pharmacovigilance.
The event will bring together the Ayurvedic sector as a whole. WAC 2008 is being organised by Vijnana Bharati and National Institute of Ayurveda and supported by Department of AYUSH and government of Rajasthan. The programme is being officially supported by all concerned ministries, associations representing the ayurvedic medical fraternity and trade associations.
